  Supreme Court remarks “We have three ceremonial benches tomorrow, three judges are retiring” during summer vacation 18 May, 2023 Today, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud remarked in the Court that three ceremonial benches will be set up in the Supreme Court on the occasion of the retirement of three Supreme Court judges during the summer vacations. The counsels when seeking dates for their matters, the CJI told them that the Court is likely to be busy tomorrow and stated that “We can’t take matters up tomorrow. If it’s urgent, mention it before the vacation bench. We have three ceremonial benches tomorrow, three judges are retiring.” The judges referred by the CJI are Justice V Ramasubramanian , Justice Ajay Rastogi , and Justice KM Joseph , who are retiring in the month of June.   "Justice Mishra is a judge with integrity,” says Collegium while recommending his elevation as Supreme Court judge 17 May, 2023 On May 16, 2023, the Supreme Court Collegium passed a resolution recommending the appointment of Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra as a judge of the Supreme Court. The members of the Collegium include Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice KM Joseph, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and Justice Ajay Rastogi. While making this recommendation, the Collegium had skipped over the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Pritinker Diwaker, who was ahead of the Apex Court’s nominee, CJ Kumar, in terms of seniority.
