LCV Gowri, to take an oath, today, as Madras High Court judge

Today, Advocate Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri along with four others will take an oath as an additional judge of the Madras High Court at 10:30 am. The current Chief Justice of the Madras High Court will administer the oath of office. Moreover, the Supreme Court set aside the petition against the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation to elevate her to an additional judge in the High Court.

On January 17, 2023, the Collegium recommended the appointment of Gowri and four other advocates to the Madras HC but legal experts and lawyers were against the decision because she is a member of BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party). Also, she made offensive comments regarding Muslims and Christians.
